PAST FISHING REPORTS

CHECK OUT THE PICS BELOW

7-31  Well after a few days of struggling a bit we finally had a great day as fishing has been very good for a week now but we just seemed to have some slow trips and bad weather.  Today we boxed a dozen beautiful fish with a 13# Steelie and two Kings over 18#.  Tomorrow is our last day off for a couple of weeks so it was nice to see a great box going into this stretch.  Fish have been coming in 80-125 feet and around 35-60 down.  Plugs and spoons ruled the day today.

7-26   Rough, rough, rough is the only way to describe the last two days when the forecasted 1 to 3 footers turned into 5's both days and made fishing very difficult.  Although we struggled to put numbers in we did manage our biggest with a 23# fish today.  Looks like a much improved forecast the next 4 days if they aren't lying to us again.  Fishing should be fantastic with calm water.

7-24  Fished last night with the A-Way television crew and had another good trip with 9 nice Kings in the boat.  The weather cooperated and we had a great time.  Fish were a lot higher with the recent north winds with most of our fish coming 45-60 down.  Should be fishing every day until next Thursday now weather permitting.

7-20  Fishing was real good until Saturday when it slowed greatly for the fleet.  Despite this we managed 7 nice fish Sat evening for about the best box we heard of.  I believe this was a result of the full moon which should also create some great fishing this week.  We are planning an afternoon trip tomorrow for some first hand experience.  If you are still looking for a charter we have four mornings still open early in August along with quite a few quality afternoons.

7-15  Fishing remains good and was not effected much by the recent winds.  Fish were coming 80-110 down in 100-200 feet of water.  Our best continues to be white flashers and flies.   Planning to be out tomorrow if the winds calm.

7-13  Had two good trips Thursday and Saturday nights with a dozen and ten fish respectively.  We have had to look for fish and nothing has been automatic but there are plenty of fish around.  I really think with the lack of fishing pressure it should be as good as it has ever been in August.  Look for the strong winds today to change things for tomorrow.

7-8  Made a trip to Boyne Falls today to pick up some items from Michigan Stinger that I was short on and also picked up a case of product for Insta Launch Campground.  I am very fortunate to work with some of the nicest people in this business and Terry and Rob at Stinger along with Debbie at Insta Launch are top notch.  If you are looking for some of the newest Stinger items Insta Launch is one of the few places that is carrying all of them including the new Stinger Flashers, Dive Bombs and the new spoon colors.  Might be heading out tomorrow afternoon if the wind cooperates and I will post a new report then.

7-7  Fishing this past weekend was up and down for us but good for the fleet as a whole.  We started out with a terrible morning Saturday morning but by afternoon located the fish and they were by far the biggest of the year.  Several fish are coming between 15 and 20 pounds and putting up some fantastic fights.  Action continued to be good Sunday morning although the pressure of all the boats slowed the bite a bit.  Action should continue to pick up from here on out.

7-1  Fishing continues to be pretty good with mixed bags coming from the shelf out to the 29 line west.  Looks like a real nice 4th weekend at this point and hopefully the fishing is as good as the weather forecast.

6-28  Reports today showed continued good fishing for a mixed bag of scattered fish.  Fish are still coming up high for the most part so some deep fish are also being taken.  Until we get a sustained North blow it should continue to be very good fishing.

6-25  Fishing has been quite good this past week as we were able to fish 3 times and had some nice mixed boxes of Lakers Steelies and Kings.  Fish have been coming in close early and out deep later in the day.  Not sure when we are getting out again but probably this weekend.  Several great dates are still open including the recently cancelled Sat morning Aug 23rd.

6-16  Late report but we did manage to get most of our two trips in Saturday before the storms got the best of us.  Sat morning was a great time with new customers and despite a slow start we still boxed 6 Kings and a couple Lakers.  Sat evening also started slow and just as we found the fish we were forced off the lake with 30-40 mile winds that came with the storm.  As for Friday the worst storm I have ever seen in the area made it impossible for us to get out as there was no place to buy fuel in the area.  Power was out in the entire town and trees were down everywhere.  Hope to be out again middle of the week and update the reports as I heard today was very good and this should continue if we can get some calmer weather.

6-11  Had a great morning as the weather cooperated and we managed 17 Kings landed and 8 lost by 9:15.  Most of the hits were on the new Slide Diver Lite Bites I started running with the heavier weights and bigger rings.  I am very excited as these look like they are going to improve my diver fishing greatly.  If the weather holds we will hit the pond again Friday and Saturday.

6-9  No such luck getting out today even though it was predicted to be around 1 foot it was blowing 15+ when I got up at 4AM and it was still raining.  This was enough to make us put the trip off for another week until Mike has time.  I will be trying to get out Wednesday again for a pre charter trip to find the fish.

6-8  Planning to hit the big pond again tomorrow if the weather cooperates.  Going to tag along with friend Mike Luther from Luther's Pheasant Hunting on his new boat just recently rigged with all new Big Jon equipment.  Mike is new to the game and we are going to try to get some fish in the new boat for him.

6-6  Made our 2008 maiden voyage yesterday after the storms cleared.  It was a very slow fish but for fishing the worst hours of the day we managed 4 Kings a nice Laker and a Steelhead.  Hopefully this south wind and warm weather will bring in a bunch more fish in the next few days.

5-29  The boat will be pulled in the morning and the arrangements have been made to fix the prop on Sat.  This means that the prop should be back on and the boat in the water Monday.  Sounds like we aren't missing much the last few days after the north blow cooled the waters and slowed the fishing.  Should pick up great within a week as good catches are coming in the warmer southern waters.

5-27  Fishing reports have been mixed with good success Friday and Sat but very slow fishing Sunday this past weekend.  Wish I could give you a first hand report but it seems we damaged a prop when dropping the boat in the water.  I will be making arrangements to pull the boat and get the prop repaired this Friday if possible and hopefully making our first trip shortly thereafter.

5-18  The boat is now at the dock and except for downriggers which I will pick up Wednesday she is ready to fish.  Reports were showing some Kings on the shelf before this North blow so the season has begun.

5-7  Work continues and the dock has been completed.  The motors are in the boat and should have a trial run and tune in the yard by this weekend with a launch date early next week.  Looks like we should have her in just in time for some spring King fishing.
